Day To Day

Day 1

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and Transfer to Hotel

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by a professional guide from Rugo Miles Africa who will warmly welcome you to Uganda. After a short briefing, you will be transferred to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala. The drive from the airport to Entebbe town is approximately 5 to 10 kilometers, taking 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Entebbe lies along the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake, offering a relaxed and scenic introduction to the country.

This day is dedicated to rest and acclimatization after your international flight. You may enjoy the hotel facilities, take a short lakeside walk, or prepare for the exciting safari adventure ahead.

Main activities include airport pickup, short transfer and relaxation time.
Optional extra activities include a visit to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, a Lake Victoria sunset experience, or a brief Entebbe city tour.

Day 2

Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, you begin your journey westward toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. The drive covers approximately 375 kilometers and takes 7 to 8 hours, passing through lush countryside, traditional villages, tea plantations and scenic crater lake regions. This road journey offers an authentic glimpse into rural Ugandan life and breathtaking landscapes.

Queen Elizabeth National Park spans over 1,978 square kilometers and is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hippos and over 600 bird species. Upon arrival in the park, you will check in at your lodge and later enjoy an evening game drive, where animals emerge to graze as the sun sets over the savannah.

Main activities include scenic road transfer and evening game drive.

Day 3

Queen Elizabeth National Park Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Today is dedicated to fully exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park, offering both land and water based wildlife experiences. Begin the day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, one of the best areas in the park for wildlife viewing. The open grasslands attract large herds of Uganda kob, which in turn draw predators such as lions. Elephants, buffaloes, warthogs and numerous bird species are commonly sighted during this drive.

In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing and rewarding boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. This channel hosts one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa, as well as Nile crocodiles and a spectacular array of water birds. The boat cruise offers excellent photography opportunities and close up wildlife encounters.

Day 4

Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and travel south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the highlight destination for mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda. The journey covers approximately 160 kilometers and takes 4 to 5 hours, passing through scenic highlands, terraced hillsides and traditional farming communities.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of Africa’s oldest rainforests and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its dense vegetation, mist covered hills and extraordinary biodiversity. It is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, making it one of the most important conservation areas on the planet. Upon arrival, check in at your forest lodge and attend a briefing about the following day’s gorilla trekking experience.

Main activities include scenic transfer and gorilla trekking orientation.
Optional extra activities include a Batwa cultural experience, guided forest walks and community village visits.

Day 5

Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today marks the most unforgettable moment of your safari mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by professional Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will then be assigned a gorilla family and begin your trek into the dense rainforest.

The trekking duration can range from 1 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family, and involves hiking through steep and forested terrain. Once the gorillas are located, you are allowed one magical hour in their presence, observing their behavior, interactions and gentle nature at close range. This is widely regarded as one of the most profound wildlife encounters in the world.

After the trek, return to your lodge for rest and reflection, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the forest.

Day 6

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Entebbe and Departure

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight. The drive covers approximately 460 kilometers and takes 8 to 9 hours, with scenic stops along the way. Alternatively, guests may choose an optional domestic flight from Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip to Entebbe for a quicker transfer.

Arrive in Entebbe in time for your international departure, bringing your unforgettable Uganda wildlife and gorilla trekking safari to a memorable close.
