Depending on your arrival time, you may explore some of Kigali’s highlights such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kimironko Market, Kandt House Museum, or enjoy a Kigali city tour for a deeper understanding of Rwandan culture and history. Kigali is known for its cleanliness, safety, vibrant arts scene, and unique blend of modern and traditional lifestyles. As you settle in, your guide will brief you about the upcoming Volcanoes National Park adventure, ensuring you are fully prepared for the gorilla trekking experience. Day 2

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Cultural Encounters

After breakfast, depart Kigali for a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park in the Musanze region. This journey takes you through Rwanda’s iconic rolling hills, rural farmlands, and scenic viewpoints that perfectly capture the beauty of the country. Day 3

Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park – A Lifetime Experience

Today is the highlight of your entire safari. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing and allocation of families before embarking on your gorilla trekking adventure. Guided by experienced park rangers, you will trek through dense bamboo forests, volcanic slopes, and misty jungle terrain in search of a mountain gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement, but the reward is beyond imagination. Once you find them, you are allowed one hour to observe the gorillas as they feed, groom each other, play, and interact in their natural habitat. This close encounter is one of the most emotional and transformative wildlife experiences in Africa. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for relaxation. Optional activities such as a community walk, nature hike, or relaxation at the lodge can be arranged for the afternoon.

Day 4

Golden Monkey Trekking or Dian Fossey Hike

On this day, you have the opportunity to engage in another exciting activity within Volcanoes National Park. You can choose between Golden Monkey trekking or hiking to the historic Dian Fossey Tomb. Golden Monkey trekking is a light and enjoyable experience that allows you to observe these playful and endangered primates as they leap between bamboo branches. Alternatively, the Dian Fossey Tomb hike takes you through forested mountains to the site where the famous primatologist conducted her research and was laid to rest. This hike offers insight into her conservation efforts and the history of mountain gorilla protection in Rwanda. In the afternoon, you can relax at the lodge or opt for another short activity around Musanze.
